CAMP SCHEDULE 2024!

 

Dear Families: 

 

We are excited to invite your children back this summer and look forward to meeting new campers! This summer 2024 all camps take place in the Wissahickon at the Tree House! Camps are held outdoors with indoor accommodations in case of inclement weather. 

 

CAMP WEEKS!

Schools Out for Summer! Day Camping in the Wissahickon! Warriors and Wildcraft. The Magical World of Faeries and Gnome. Raji Malik’s Music Jam Camp! Cooks of the Forest! Woodworking Under the Trees with Mario Rodriguez!

No matter the theme, each week kids will hike and explore the creek, connect with the land and native wildlife, and have plenty of imaginative playtime.

Registration is Open!

 

We look forward to providing a safe, loving, and creative camp this summer! We have 6 CIT’s coming back this summer. 

Our camps provide time to play, relax, and enjoy the summer days. Kids are encouraged to use their imagination and share in making our camp days memorable.

Fees are non-refundable after April 25, 2024. A $35 charge per child will be deducted for administrative costs for refunds requested before April 15, 2024, due to a cancellation. Refunds during camp are not given due to illness (sick days) or impromptu vacations during camp. Camp credits approved the previous year must be used in the following summer. Camp credit not used will be voided.

School's Out for Summer!
For Kids 6-11


Whooohooo! School's out and it's time to let loose! Hike the trails, creek visits, and joining in creative playtime make up a full week following a busy school year! Costume fun! Child-led theater! Board games! Paint! Draw! Finger knit! Gobble up popcorn and indulge in a banana whip treat! This week invites kids to take the imaginative lead in one of the most special spots in the Wissahickon woods. 

$375 per week

Monday-Friday

9:00am - 3:00pm  

 

 

June 17-21
Day Camping in the Wissahickon!

For Kids 6-11

 

Pitch a tent and set up camp for a week of "day camping" in the Wissahickon. Kids will hike the beautiful trails, explore the creek, connect with the land and native wildlife, and take part in imaginative playtime. SIng-a-longs and a Friday cookout culminate our week! 

$375 per week

Monday-Friday

9:00am - 3:00pm  

 

 

June 24-28 

Warriors and Wildcraft!
For Kids 6-11

Kids will experience their inner peaceful warrior by building connections with nature and one another. A week of creative projects will include wildcrafting medicinal plants, crafting spears and shields, and practicing story-telling techniques through words and pictures. Developing a connection with the trees, plants, and water, helps kids to become stewards of the sacred Wissahickon woods. Plenty of free playtime and arts!

$375 per week

Monday-Friday

July 22-26
Music Jam Camp with Raji Malik
Kids 7-12 years-old


Kids are invited to bring an instrument (we also provide some!) and inspiration for a musical week of experimental jamming under the trees! Whether your child likes to play drums, guitar, keyboard, or shake an egg, all are welcome! Plenty of time to connect harmoniously with others, Music Jam Camp will satisfy a week of melodic pleasure - with an end-of-the-week performance for the kids! ~ Raji Malik is a lifelong musician, composer, and early childhood educator at the Abington Friends School.

$395 per week

July 29th – August 2nd

Magical World of Faeries and Gnomes

Kids 5-11 years-old

(Note: Different age group)

 

We are so excited to go back to the woods to celebrate the faerie folk! The Magical World of Gnomes and Faeries will enchant children for an entire week! Children become architects, building and constructing faerie houses and miniature furniture. We will be enchanted by the plant world and learn how it is here to help us. Crafting and creating, along with the customary celebration on Friday to celebrate the Faeries! This week offers time for child-led play, dress-up, impromptu plays, finger knitting, and time to daydream.

$395 per week

Woodworking Under the Trees

with Mario Rodriguez

August 5-9
For kids 9-12


Join us this summer for a woodworking camp taught by master woodworker, Mario Rodriguez. As children learn new woodworking skills, Mario offers them the chance to choose projects such as walking sticks, spoons, small bowls, and a garden basket. Camp takes place on the grounds of the Tree House, The Wissahickon Environmental Center, located in the scenic Andorra Natural Area. This is an outdoor camp with indoor accommodations in case of inclement weather. Materials and tools are provided. Experience is not necessary, only a desire to build and have fun!

Mario Rodriguez is the woodworking teacher at The Waldorf School of Philadelphia. Over the past 30 years, he has taught woodworking to children as well as adults and has published many articles about the craft as well as two books - Traditional Woodworking and Building Fireplace Mantels.

August 19-23

Cooks of the Forest!
For Kids 8-12

Indigo’s Cooking Camp is turning to the great outdoors! We invite your foodie to join us In this hands-on cooking camp! Kids will meal prep and whip up amazing camp foods over the fire and make ice cream by hand. They will learn about how food makes us feel, healthy cooking methods, how food is grown, and how eating seasonally helps us tune in to sustainable cooking. On Friday kids will take what they learned, prepare a lunch and creatively plate up using forest finds! All vegetarian menu. Gluten and dairy are included in the menu. Please send alternatives. Space is limited to 12  campers. 

$450
