Day Fourteen

Theme: IF

Cooper Edens is an imaginative artist and writer. He reminds us to think playfully. Cooper Edens wrote a book called If You're Afraid of the Dark, Remember the Night Rainbow. Do you know of it?

Throughout the book, Cooper begins each sentence beginning with the word "IF."

Here's an example:

If you have butterflies in your stomach

                                                   ask them into your heart.

If your heart catches in your throat

ask a bird how she sings.

Activity: As Cooper Edens grew older, he allowed himself to continue to think like a young child. He challenges us to think differently.

Today's activity invites you to come up with 5 - IF sentences, and then draw one or two pictures that go along with the IF sentences.

Here are a couple beginnings. Can you finish them?

If a key falls from the sky...

If a rabbit loses a shoe...

If the moon shines on your garden...

It's your turn to think of IF sentences? I would like to read some of your sentences. Have fun!

Gratitude: I'm thankful for artists like Cooper Edens, who helps keep our imaginations alive. What are you thankful for?
